Big stars still to be expected at 2016 Cannes despite security concerns

In November last year, darkness covered France when ISIS targeted multiple entertainment spots in and around Paris. Cautiously however the 2016 Cannes film festival will proceed and with a bit of luck the next two weeks will run smoothly.

In the past, the festival had the answers to what film would take home the Palme d’Or or which box office hits will be launched or what deals will be made. Now, the star-studded event faces terrorism which is a real-world problem and they can only ask if the same film festival will be safe. The event will still be graced by big stars and a number of acclaimed international auteurs despite security concerns. Dozens of A-listers in the film industry such as Woody Allen, Steven Spielberg, Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling, Charlize Theron, Javier Bardem, Blake Lively, Steve Carell, Parker Posey, Marion Cotillard and Kristen Stewart will be in attendance.

The Cannes movies list includes:

  • “Café Society”
  • “It’s Only the End of the World”
  • “Mal de Pierres”
  • “Money Monster”
  • “The Nice Guys”
  • “The Last Face”
  • “Personal Shopper”
  • And a lot more

We can only be optimistic that the 69th Cannes film festival may shed some light to the fear-stricken city and that everything will be well throughout the festival period.
