A Chinese action thriller titled “The Bittersweet” was acquired by Swen Group International. The Miami-based distributor got multi-territory rights, particularly for Latin America, North America, and most of Europe; and Hong Kong-based Fame Universal will handle sales.
The film casts Korean singer-actor Lee Min-ho and Zhu Xuan (Yonfan’s “Prince of Tears”). To elevate the film’s look and feel, they brought an international team on board including Wade Muller, a cinematographer from Australia and Chen Po-jen, production designer from Taiwan.
Not to be mistaken with The Heirs‘ Kim Tan, Lee Min-ho is a South Korean actor who is well known for his role in Moon Embracing the Sun as young Yang Myung. He was a former child star with a long TV career and broke through into the movies including “Running Man” and “The Howling”. Just like other Korean actors and musicians, he’s also eyeing for bigger opportunities in the Chinese market. He even spent 2 months taking an intensive Mandarin Chinese language course and performed Chinese and Korean songs in “The Bittersweet”.
