Patrick’s Altruism spread to DMD society

DMD also known Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, this condition is due to the mutations of the dystrophin gene which is the most common Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and severe type of muscular dystrophy.

DMD is the most common childhood onset form of muscular dystrophy and affects males almost exclusively. The birth prevalence is estimated to be 1 in every 3,500 live male births. Age of onset is usually between 3 and 5 years of age.

It is characterized by muscle weakness and muscular atrophy of the pelvis and thighs followed by the shoulder and arm muscles. It usually begins around the age of four and worsens quickly. This can result in trouble standing up. Most are unable to walk by the age of 12. Affected muscles may look larger due to increased fat content. Scoliosis is also common. Some may have intellectual disability.

As one of Patrick’s friends ran a charity for the DMD society, Patrick unreluctantly supported the cause as he can never turn his back to those who are in need.
With the collective efforts of Patrick and his friend, the profits of the very successful campaign and had helped the Duchenne society.
